Municipal Corporation
Municipal Corporation came into existence in 1978. First time elections of Municipal Corporation Ludhiana were held in year 1992. And Chaudhary Sat Parkash was elected as first Mayor of M.C. Ludhiana, S. Surjit Singh Ahluwalia became the Senior Deputy Mayor. Total number of members of house was 50.
With the increase in population and territorial area of Ludhiana city the strength of house was increased to 95, plus six MLA members and budget of Municipal Corporation has crossed Rupees 900 crores, which was only Rupess 50 Cr. in 1970.

Improvement Trust
Ludhiana Improvement Trust was established in the year 1958 under the Punjab Town Improvement Act 1922. This office was established with the objective to achieve planned, growth & development for the residents of Ludhiana.
